Is Uthiram really free?
Yes, always. There's no listing fee, no premium tier, no donor-data sale. Uthiram is built and run by volunteers and DotCode Technology — the goal is a healthier Tamil Nadu, not a revenue line.
How does Uthiram find a matching donor quickly?
When you post a request, our system searches donors with a matching blood group within a 30 km radius who are eligible (past their gender-based cooldown — 90 days for men, 120 for women), sorts by proximity + past donation reliability, and calls them one after another in Tamil. Most matches close under 15 minutes in cities.
Do I need to speak Tamil to use Uthiram?
No. The mobile app is fully bilingual (Tamil + English). Donor calls default to Tamil since that's what most donors in Tamil Nadu prefer, but the app respects your language choice.
Is my location shared with strangers?
Never your exact GPS coordinates. Discovery happens with per-donor deterministic fuzzing so nobody can triangulate your address. Your base address text is visible only to you, and your mobile number is shared with a requester only after you accept.
Which cities does Uthiram cover?
Currently every district in Tamil Nadu — Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, Trichy, Tirunelveli, and beyond. Coverage depth follows donor density; if your area is thin, sign up and it grows.
Can hospitals and NGOs partner with Uthiram?
Yes — that's what the 'Partner with us' section is for. Hospitals get priority routing for emergency requests, NGOs can plug into camp coordination, and both keep full control over their donor lists. Onboarding is free and takes about a week.
